Walailak University – On Monday, November 28, 2025, Ms. Chattrathai Suwanmalai, Acting Head of the Internal Audit Unit, along with General System Officers from the unit, attended the declaration ceremony for “Walailak University’s Commitment to Carbon Neutrality,” presided over by the University President.
Advancing the Green University Vision
The participation of the Internal Audit Unit personnel demonstrates strong commitment and active support for the university’s core policy to drive forward as a “Green University” under its 20-Year Strategic Plan (2018–2037), which emphasizes environmentally and socially responsible operations.
Walailak University has set a clear goal to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030 (B.E. 2573), aligning with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) policy and Thailand’s National Net Zero Roadmap 2050. Key operational measures undertaken by the university include:
Organizational Greenhouse Gas Assessment: Evaluating the Carbon Footprint of the Organization (CFO).
Emission Reduction Measures: Implementing targeted actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across various campus activities.
Expanding Carbon Sinks: Enhancing carbon absorption and storage within the university’s forest areas.
Sustainable Operations: Promoting energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable transportation development.
Acknowledging these environmental policies and strategies enables the Internal Audit Unit to align its audit planning and execution, providing governance support to ensure the “Green University” strategic goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.
