Nakhon Si Thammarat – On December 18, 2025, personnel from the Internal Audit Unit of Walailak University honorably attended the official Soft Opening ceremony of the “Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum, Walailak University” (SIRIN MUSEUM), joining university executives, distinguished guests, and members of the press at the Benjarat Conference Room in the Natural History Museum Building.
Celebrating High-Value Project Success
At the opening ceremony, the Internal Audit team celebrated the university’s achievement in executing this large-scale project backed by a budget exceeding 350 million baht. The event was presided over by Mr. Somchai Leelakertsood, Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, with Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, delivering the welcome address. This landmark museum stands as tangible proof of efficient and transparent management aimed at long-term educational benefit and sustainable conservation.
Exploring Southern Thailand’s Rich Ecosystems
During the event, internal audit personnel toured the museum, which is designed around the concept of “Following the Footsteps of the Conservation Princess: From Mountain Peak to the Sea.” The facility showcases diverse ecological systems—ranging from the Khao Luang peak and the Pak Phanang river basin to the Gulf of Thailand—across 8 modern exhibition rooms. This initiative strongly aligns with the Green University policy, under which Walailak University has held the #1 spot in Southern Thailand for 6 consecutive years.
The “SIRIN MUSEUM” serves as a major new lifelong learning center destined to bring immense public benefit and immense pride to the entire Walailak University community.
